The duties of an intern comprise of, but not limited to, are;

  • Drag chain shaft and flight deragging.
  • General housekeeping of the facility both internal and exterior
  • Pressure washing structures and vacuuming of areas
  • Ash pit cleaning and minor conveyor maintenance; ie rollers, seals, scrapers.
  • Boiler outage work; which may include
    • On and off line pressure washing
    • Unplugging hoppers and conveyors
    • Internal boiler cleaning
    • Tipping valve tune ups and repairs
    • Expansion joint repairs and replacement

 

  • Perform maintenance on equipment:
    • Bag replacement on COHPAC and baghouse systems
    • Lubricating machinery
    • Small pump repair
    • Small piping installations
    • Grate repairs
    • Slaker screen replacements
    • Expansion joint replacements
    • Plant upgrades
    • Training
    • Filter replacements
  • Assist maintenance during outages.
  • Operate surge bins when needed
  • Perform picking platform duties when needed.
  • Assist other departments in their various task.
  • Assist Engineering for Non Destructive Examinations
  • Painting
  • Unloading fuel oil
  • Confine space attendant
  • Assist in fire prevention (fire watch) and  extinguishment of incipient fires
  • Scheduled and unscheduled Overtime to support the needs
  • Air cooled condenser washing
  • Performing shift coverage during vacations & training periods.


Must be 18 years of age and be in the process of successfully completing their major in high school.  Work/school intern program.
