The Dublin Waste to Energy project is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) between Dublin City Council and Covanta, a world leader in sustainable waste management and renewable energy solutions, to build, own and operate a new 600,000 metric tonne per year, 58 net megawatt Energy-from-Waste facility in Dublin. The facility will provide the Dublin region with a long-term sustainable and environmentally superior waste management solution, enabling it to divert post-recycled waste from landfills and become locally self-sufficient in managing waste, consistent with regional, national and EU waste policies.

SUMMARY: Perform various hands-on tasks required for the upkeep, maintenance and operation of the plant and its component equipment. The position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager but will support both the maintenance and operations team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Perform general housekeeping of the facility, including cleaning and moving material.
Assist with outage work on the boilers and APC equipment.
Inspect incoming waste and remove as appropriate.
Have the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
Follow all company procedure and safety policies.
Perform other duties as assigned by senior management.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Junior or Leaving Certificate.  Formal technical or apprentice training is desirable, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, technical procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and other procedure manuals.  Ability to speak and communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to take appropriate safe action on his/her own initiative to prevent equipment damage or injury to personnel during emergencies or unusual situations.
