The Early Career Development Program (ECDP) is part of Covanta’s strategy to hire and develop a high performing, diverse talent pool. The ECDP is a three-year program in which participants will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience and receive wide exposure to Covanta’s different business functions through a coordinated rotation among a variety of assignments across, both within and outside their primary department.  Candidates for the ECDP are required to have a bachelor’s degree and zero to three years’ of relevant experience by the hire date. The ECDP hire for the Metals Management team will perform a variety of field engineering functions in support of metals recovery and plant optimization.  Duties will include engineering, optimization and small project control activities for planning and implementation of enhanced metal recovery systems and ash reuse technologies.


Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Define and analyze project problem
  • Perform assessments of existing metal recovery system performance
  • Prepare project scope definition documents
  • Prepare project Basis of Design documents
  • Develop project conceptual design and prepare drawings and specifications
  • Prepare and assemble information and documents required for project eCAP (Electronic Capital Expense Approval process submittals
  • Prepare/review project detailed drawings, material procurement and construction specifications
  • Field construction engineering and supervision
  • Support system start-up/commissioning
  • Coordinate third party engineering consultants in support of OGI project objectives
  • Estimate /control project costs
  • Develop / control project schedule
  • Prepare Facility Change Notice (FCN) documents for new system projects


Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or related field(s) from an accredited university/ college

Experience:

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Proficient with MS Office suite
  • Knowledge of MS Projects is a plus
  • Demonstrated proficiency with technical writing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
  • Attention to detail

Other:

  • Willing and able to travel or relocate, as needed. Current estimates of travel are between 50% and 75%.
