The Director, IT Business Relationship will work as the strategic interface with Covanta's Supply Chain team which includes EfW Plant Operations, Engineering, and Strategic Sourcing business units for the purpose of business/IT strategic development and alignment, solution delivery and management of IT services.

The position serves as the liaison between the Supply Chain and IT organizations and is the primary point of contact and trusted IT advisor focused on the optimization of all aspects within the Supply Chain vertical.  The position is responsible for maintaining a high level of business satisfaction with IT for the systems and services they provide. The Director will provide strong leadership in the identification and implementation of systems and processes in all Covanta plants and corporate headquarters. This position will represent Global IT in the respective business committees and business matters where information technology is involved.

Responsibilities -

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive 3-Year technology roadmap for each business area within the Supply Chain organization. The roadmap will include a list of proposed initiatives and the financial budgets associated with each initiative.
  • Ensures that the Supply Chain projects and initiatives are in-line with the corporate strategy and IT is aligned with the Supply Chain needs.
  • Responsible as the strategic interface for the Supply Chain organization and is tasked to develop business-IT strategy, solution discovery, service management, risk management and relationship management. The role provides highly-valued strategic consulting level support and guidance.
  • Facilitates and leads planning and execution of projects to enable the Supply Chain Team to achieve strategic objectives through Technology.
  • Communicates decisions, priorities and project status to senior levels of the Supply Chain staff.
  • As a champion of the adherence to IT methodologies, the Director will work closely with IT architects to understand new technology trends and forecast future IT infrastructure requirements.
  • Works with IT leadership on annual IT budgets and forecasts.
  • Helps evaluate IT project objectives and analyzes new business initiatives and IT demand.
  • Advocates for the new value of IT digitalization and its importance in the success of the Supply Chain organization

  • Experienced with Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) / Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) solutions; implementations and integrations.
  • Exposure to maintenance management/operations/engineering practices in at least one of the following industries: water, wastewater, transportation, facility management, and/or manufacturing
  • Technology related BS or MS, possibly an MBA. The bottom line: a combination of strong technology skills and business acumen.
  • Ten years of related work experience. Industry experience should include waste management or utility or related business sectors. Experience working within Information Technology and/or in a Business functional role delivering technology value to Business Partners.
  • Extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices and opportunities to utilize technologies that would have positive effects on plant operations and productivity.
  • Solid facilitation and negotiation skills and the ability to effectively prioritize issues and projects.
  • Able to work independently with a strong sense of accountability and Executive presence.
  • Highly motivated and self-assured; hands-on problem solver
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated project portfolio management skills, including project planning, budgeting, and controlling processes, and valuing IT investments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office software programs.
  • Experience in Business Analysis, Business Process Improvement and Change Management
